Soli S. Bamji was born in Mumbai, India in the second half of the 20th century. As of the decade 1990 he has resided in Ottawa, Canada with his wife Farida, son and daughter. He has a Ph.D. in physics from Virginia State University in USA and is a Principal Research Scientist at the world-class research institute, the National Research Council of Canada. His research in dielectrics and electrical insulation has produced several patents and seminal publications in archival journals in this field. Soli is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and was the President of an IEEE society in 2003 and 2004.

Soli is an ordained Zoroastrian Priest and voluntarily performs religious ceremonies for the community in Ottawa, the capital of Canada. He is involved with Interfaith services in the National Capital Region, provides information and awareness on Zoroastrian religion and maintains a website at:
